There is a wonderful story at LATimes.com about Vladimir Putin flying with cranes.
I was sort of amazed at the nasty responses and the disrespect. There's a photo on the article that really made my day.
It's hard for me to understand the disregard human beings seem to have for animals that are not their pets, or for the natural world, in general. At JPL in Pasadena all they can talk about is their photographs of Mars. Meanwhile in their own back yard they prepare to let Pasadena put a soccer field on top of endangered riparian habitat.
