Two caught with large number of short wrung tails


A Sheriff’s Marine Patrol deputy, working with Fish andWildlife officers, arrested two men with a large number of wrung tails, most ofwhich were also illegal size.
Deputy Wilfredo Guerra spotted a vessel just after 4 a.m.Sunday approaching shore at the north end of Marathon with no running lights. Hesaw two men get off the vessel carrying a large grey box.
Deputy Guerra approached 41 year old Ernesto Rua Pinera ofHomestead and 26 year old Raudel Rubio of Marathon and asked to check insidethe box. He found 332 wrung lobster tails. 304 of the tails turned out to beundersized.
Both men were arrested. They were charged with possessing332 wrung tails and 304 undersized tails. They were booked into jail. Thelobster tails were turned over to FWC to be kept in their evidence facility.
