Mickey Hargitay's plants over on Fountain just east of La Brea is one of the coolest little urban forest/cactus garden wonderlands for miles around. Plus, though I haven't been over there in far too long, Io the Amazon Parrot is the supreme beauty of Mickey's----sometimes they let her play outside her cage, and to see her spread her wings is just a transcendent vision.
Ori's Automotive is on Fountain just west of Highland. Not only has the place been there for decades, but the same people work there. And there's a turtle garden.
The turtle garden is just one of my favorite reasons to take my car there. These are actual honest mechanics. But they are also gardeners. They grow sugar cane and other foods in the corner garden, right at the corner near the intersection. But in front of the main building with the office (which has a cool purple-neon gangsta light they sometimes turn on at night) there's the turtle garden. It's centered on a fountain. The problem with the turtle garden is that the turtles need more green around them.
I'd really love to see Mickey come over to Ori's and put some green into that space. I think the turtles are a little bored and lonely for plant vibes.
I wonder if Paul (who runs Ori's) would let Mickey advertise in exchange for putting more green into the turtle habitat.
Hey Mickey, your plants are so fine! So fine they blow my mind! Hey Mickey!! The turtles need you.
