Marathon – A Marathon man is in jail, charged with forcinghis way into a home and punching his brother in a dispute over a woman
Deputies responded to reports of a fight on 95thStreet in Marathon at 4 p.m. Sunday. On their way, they spotted 37 year old FrancisDyer walking away from the location of the altercation and they detained himfor further investigation.
When they got to the house where the fight took place, theyfound Dyer’s brother with injuries to his face. A woman also on the scene saidshe used to live with Dyer but recently left him and started dating hisbrother. She also had bruises which she said were a result of the altercationwith Dyer.
Both victims said Dyer forced his way into the house on 95thStreet and started the fight, telling his brother he was going to kill him. Thefemale victim said she picked up her phone and told Dyer she was going to callthe police if he didn’t stop; he told her if she did he’d kill her so she putdown the phone.
Both victims said Dyer then began throwing things around andbroke a window. There was considerable damage done to the inside of the house.
Dyer was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief,assault and 2 counts of battery and he was taken to jail.
Once at the jail in a holding cell, he once again becameviolent. He began kicking and banging on the door of the cell. By the timeofficers got him under control, he’d done an estimated $2,000.00 damage to thedoor and locking mechanism. More charges are pending against him.
