Man arrested for lewd acts in the presence of an elderly person

Islamorada – An Islamorada man has been arrested, chargedwith performing a lewd act in the presence of an elderly woman.

The 65 year old victim called the Sheriff’s Office on July30^th to report the incident. She said at the time, she was paying 51year old Roy Drebenstedt to help her maintain the yard at her Islamorada home.She said on July 21^st, Drebenstedt asked to use her bathroom. Sheallowed him to use the bathroom. She said he was there for quite some time andwhen he came out, he was naked. She said he asked her for a towel because hesaid he took a shower. She said as he was asking for a towel, he was fondlinghimself in front of her.
She said she was so frightened, she threw some towels at himand locked herself in her bedroom. When she came out an hour later, he wasgone.
Major Crimes Detective Daniel Mehler was assigned toinvestigate. He obtained a warrant for Drebenstedt’s arrest and today(Thursday) he was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition in thepresence of an elderly person and he was booked into jail.
